Silent Night Chord Chart

Welcome to my Silent Night chord chart. This is a great Christmas song. I actually think it’s one of my mom’s favorites and I really like it too.

I also like that this is a relatively easy Christmas song to learn on the guitar. You can strum, pick, or even fingerpick your way through this Christmas classic.

This song is going to be in 3/4 time version with more of a waltz feel. This means we will only have 3 beats per measure vs 4 beats like you would have in 4/4 time.

Silent Night Chords:

C, D7, G

If you don’t know D7, feel free to go right ahead and use the regular old D chord. It will work just fine for the purposes of this song.

Let’s start with the strumming.

While this song is in 3/4 time, you might find it easier to count as 1 2 3 4 5 6 instead of 1 + 2 + 3 +

We will be using a very traditional picking pattern playing the lowest bass note of the chord followed by the strings 3, 2, 1, 2, 3. You can watch the YouTube video below for more specific instruction on how to play this pattern.
